Build a cohesive color palette

A good-looking theme is often less about “more colors” and more about colors that work together.

In the creator, you can pick one accent color, generate a light-to-dark scale, and apply it to common areas in one click.

Why unify colors

Theme colors are spread across many places:

• Window frame, toolbar, and tabs at the top
• New tab page background, text, and links
• Address bar background and text

Picking many unrelated colors tends to:

• Create an inconsistent visual style
• Make text hard to read
• Make hovers and accents feel jarring

Recommended workflow

1. Pick an accent color in the creator
2. Generate a light-to-dark scale
3. Apply it to common areas in one click, then tweak for your style

Simple mapping tips

• Window frame: use a darker shade to define the browser frame
• Toolbar: use a lighter shade to keep buttons and text readable
• Tab text / address bar text / new tab page text: use dark tones for contrast
• New tab page background / address bar background: use the lightest shade or near-white
• Link color: use a mid-bright tone; go slightly darker on hover

This is not the only valid approach, but it is a stable starting point before you develop a personal style.
